Murphy’s Law

I have done a thorough job of taking pictures of the progress of the renovation of the sanctuary, but now I cannot find the camera. It is as if the Night Fairies have conveniently lifted it to keep me humble (and keep me looking for what is not there).

That is okay, I am one step ahead of them. I have lived long enough to know that it does not matter if I have the pictures, because we have the finished project. Russell Brown and Crew still have a few more days of painting the entrances, but the major work has been accomplished — and it looks wonderful!

Life has its annoyances, but the show goes on! Whatever the Big Story of life might be, the lesser things cannot inhibit the Grand Design. Satan is but a pest. Evil, for all of its unnecessary suffering, will eventually pass from existence. The “Meek will inherit the earth…” Ideologies come and go. The unassuming worker will remain to enjoy the fruits of their labor.

We are going to work on the sanctuary off and on through the day. It is a work of love. In true church tradition, we are maintaining and improving the building that has served so many over the decades — and even the centuries — now that the sanctuary is over one-hundred years old.

The paint fumes have diminished. The freshly fallen snow has given the grounds a fairy tale look. Bring dust cloths. The work of art is almost finished for another generation.
