Dreams of Progress
According to dream theorists, when you dream about planes, trains, and automobiles, you are expressing the feeling that your life is going forward. There are other modes of transportation that count toward this too. Having been an avid bicyclist and rollerblade animal, I add those to the list. Whatever expresses forward progress is good.
I seldom share actual dreams with people, but lately my dream life has been pretty active. Maybe that is to compensate for the otherwise drab January environment. Maybe it is because my soul is trying to get me to see the possibilities of the new year ahead.
Anyway, last night’s dream was about my ability to go everywhere on rollerblades. In my dreams, I am pretty good at it. What made the dream interesting was my discussion with Greg and Sam Jones about the advantages of rollerblades over skateboards. That’s right, part of the dream was seeing Greg Jones on a skateboard. He can really move on that thing. Halfway through the dream, he and Sam shifted to rollerblades.
I will give an interpretive spin to this: The facilities committee has seen a lot of progress this last year. Last week the insulation was installed and the new furnaces for the sanctuary are on the way. Greg, Wyman, Chris, and many others are leading the way in completing some of our dreams. Other committee heads and members are also doing outstanding jobs. All are to be praised. By the Lord’s grace, we continue in motion.
There is a book titled: Dreams — God’s Forgotten Language. I no longer have the volume, but I remember many of its key points. Note how often dreams are part of the Bible. God is not going to let us waste eight hours each day. Our dream life is worth pondering. It may even be the all-night-psychiatrist. Pay attention to everything. God is alive in every facet of existence.
