Crisis

Crisis: God’s way of saying, “Do not settle for where you are now; there is a better way of living.”

History is a record of the disasters that led to new forks in humanity’s road and the consequences of choosing among the new options. Every chapter of the chronicles of mankind should begin with the word “Oops” and end with: “And that led us to the next crisis.”

From heaven’s point of view, I have a feeling that we look like the Keystone Cops down here. We do some of the dumbest things with whatever intentions of good we may have temporarily drummed up. Like all great comedy, we do these silly things with a completely straight face.

Currently, we are focused on a man-made crisis (and most of them are man/woman made). It will pass from the news cycle and into the courts (where it will become an occasional footnote). From this crisis, technology will improve. Along the way there will be symbolic hangings and enough blame to fill an encyclopedia of shame.

I find it all a bit entertaining. I also remind myself of the ways I do the same things on a smaller scale (accidents, surgeries, bad decisions, good decisions that become bad decisions, etc.). We humans seem to learn only by trial and error (it should be phrased “error and trial”).

Let me see…hmmmm…today a group of men are moving things up and down a flight of stairs and climbing various ladders around an old church building. I wonder what could possibly go wrong.
