Best Comedy Around

If you are not laughing, you are not paying attention. Reality is the best comedy you will ever find. There is contradiction in everything out there. By comparison, we are, pound for pound, one of the weakest creatures on the planet. Even the best Olympic weight lifter is no match for the average animal in the wild of the same size.

Sure, we have a little more gray matter, but by proportion not much. We brag about having opposing thumbs, but we will never be able to swim like the average dolphin — or even a penguin. Let’s face it, we are lucky to even be still living on this planet. We are just smart enough to create advanced weapons and just dumb enough to aim them at each other.

Personally, I find institutions hysterical. They are “organized” in the most unorganized way. Clueless people send big egos to vote on complex issues they seldom even read. At the local level, decisions are made with little or no real research. What is comical is that we are still walking around on the planet. We still eat. We still multiply. There must be something a whole lot smarter than us taking care of us. It is a planet covered in village idiots. Somebody is looking out for us.

I honestly believe that I could make a formal argument for a compassionate God based solely on the stupidity of humanity alone (and I include myself in that). How could any species this self-destructive continue to survive and thrive if they did not get a whole lot of help from mystical powers of the great beyond. We are not here because we are all geniuses. We are here because something (or someone) greater cares that we do.

Sometimes I wonder if God had second thoughts about giving us egos. Didn’t the Creator know we would be stuck on ourselves and ignore the greatness of Being itself? Oh well, here we are. I wonder if we can improve on our record.
